This Privacy Policy explains how Pilar ("Pilar," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our websites, apps, and services (the "Services"). If you have questions, email hi@askpilar.com.

1) Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

When you create an account or use our services, you provide us with:

  • Account details: Your name, email, phone number, username, and password
  • Billing information: Your billing address (we use Stripe to process payments, so they handle your payment details - see their privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy)
  • Google sign-in data: If you sign in with Google, we get your basic profile information like your name, email, and profile picture to set up your account

Information we collect automatically

As you use our services, we automatically gather:

  • Technical information: Your IP address, what device and browser you're using, which pages you visit, when you visit them, and any error reports
  • Why we collect this: We use this information to keep our services secure, make them run faster, and understand how people use our platform

Google API information

When we use Google's services to help you sign in or use features, we follow Google's rules about how we can use your data (called the Google API Services User Data Policy).

Information from other companies

Sometimes we get additional information about you from:

  • Service providers: Companies that help us run our business
  • Public sources: Information that's already publicly available
  • Why we do this: To make sure we have accurate information about you and to improve our services

2) How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and provide the Services

  • Comply with law and enforce our terms

3) AI Features and Providers

Pilar offers AI agents and knowledge bases. When you use AI features, your inputs and outputs may be processed by third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Google Cloud, AWS) solely to deliver the feature and maintain safety and reliability.

We do not use your AI content to train our own or third-party models beyond what their published policies permit.

Important: Do not submit confidential or sensitive data to AI features unless necessary.

4) When We Share Information

We share information with service providers that help us run Pilar (e.g., hosting, payments, analytics, AI processing). They may only use your data as instructed by us.

We may also share information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5) Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Services secure, remember preferences, and analyze usage. You can control cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

If you register or sign in with Google, we receive limited account info to authenticate you. Google's own use of your data is governed by its policy. Manage your Google privacy settings in your Google account.

7) Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law. If your account becomes inactive, we aim to delete personal information within six (6) months, except where longer retention is required (e.g., billing records).

8) Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use the Services in a secure environment and keep your login credentials safe.
